Marketing Manager Resume Example (2026): Template, Summary and Skills

By EZProCV Editorial Team · Updated

This marketing manager resume example is for brand, growth, product and integrated marketing managers, whether you're stepping up from a specialist role or already run a team and budget. It gives you a complete sample resume as text, summaries for three career levels, before-and-after bullets, skills and the ATS keywords recruiters use for this role.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says marketing managers estimate demand, identify markets, develop pricing and acquisition strategies, and work with product, sales and public relations teams to grow profit and market share (BLS). Hiring managers read your resume looking for that business link: which campaigns you ran, what they cost and what they returned.

The sample below shows how to write that link into every bullet, and the guide sections explain how to adapt it to B2B, consumer or agency marketing.

Quick answer: A strong marketing manager resume leads with a summary that names your channel mix, budget, team and one revenue result, then proves it with bullets on pipeline or sales generated, customer acquisition cost, return on ad spend, launches and team growth. List strategy, analytics and platform skills, keep it to two pages at most, and use the job ad's terms so an applicant tracking system matches you.

How to write a marketing manager resume summary

Use three or four sentences that a CEO or CMO could read in ten seconds:

  1. Title, years and the kind of marketing (B2B, consumer, product, brand).
  2. Scope: team size and budget.
  3. One business result tied to revenue, pipeline or acquisition cost.
  4. How you work: testing, positioning, cross-team planning.

Marketing manager with 8 years in B2B software, leading 4 marketers and a $1.6M budget. Grew marketing-sourced pipeline from $9M to $15M in 18 months by rebuilding the webinar, paid search and nurture programs. Known for clear positioning and tight alignment with sales.

Avoid "passionate, results-driven marketer". Every marketing resume says it; your numbers say more.

Which marketing metrics should you put on your resume?

Pick the metrics the hiring company cares about. A B2B team watches pipeline; an e-commerce brand watches revenue and acquisition cost.

Type of marketing Strong metrics to show
B2B / SaaS Marketing-sourced pipeline, MQL-to-SQL conversion, cost per opportunity, win rate on marketing leads
E-commerce / DTC Revenue, customer acquisition cost (CAC), return on ad spend (ROAS), repeat purchase rate
Brand / consumer goods Sales lift, retail sell-through, share of voice, awareness study results
Product marketing Launch revenue, adoption, win rate against competitors
Team and budget Budget size, team size, hires, agency savings

Always give the before and after, and say over what time. "Lowered CAC 18% in 12 months" beats "optimized acquisition".

What skills does a marketing manager resume need?

BLS lists analytical, communication, creativity, decision-making, interpersonal and organizational skills as important for marketing managers. O*NET's technology list for the role includes Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Tableau and Adobe Creative Cloud (O*NET OnLine).

Keep your skills section to about 12–15 items in three groups:

  • Strategy: positioning, go-to-market, pricing, market research, budgeting.
  • Channels: search, social, email, content, events, partnerships.
  • Tools: the CRM, automation and analytics platforms in the job ad.

Only list a tool if you could talk through how you used it. Marketing interviews often include a case or a walk-through of your dashboards.

How do you go from marketing specialist to marketing manager?

BLS notes that marketing managers typically come from related roles such as sales representative, market research analyst or public relations specialist. To show you're ready to manage:

  1. Show ownership: a channel, a budget line or a launch you ran end to end.
  2. Show people work: interns you supervised, agencies or freelancers you briefed.
  3. Show business thinking: tie campaigns to revenue or pipeline, not just clicks.
  4. Show planning: quarterly plans, forecasts and post-campaign reviews.

Use the entry-level summary above as your model, and see the digital marketing specialist resume example for channel-focused bullets.

How long and what format should a marketing manager resume be?

One page works for up to about seven years; two pages suit most managers. Use reverse-chronological order, a clean design and standard headings. Creative touches are fine if the text stays readable by an applicant tracking system: avoid putting your skills or dates in images, icons or charts.

A link to a portfolio, case studies or LinkedIn is useful, but the resume must stand on its own. The Vertical Impact layout in the EZProCV templates is built for marketing roles. Add your content, download a text-based PDF and pair it with a tailored letter; see our marketing manager cover letter example.

How a marketing manager resume changes by country

US & Canada

Use a one- or two-page resume with no photo. BLS reports a median annual wage of $166,790 for marketing managers (May 2025) and projects 7% employment growth for marketing managers from 2025 to 2035 (BLS). Quote results in USD or CAD and name the platforms you used, since tool names are common search terms.

UK & Ireland

Send a two-page CV with a short personal profile and no photo. The National Careers Service lists marketing manager pay from £30,000 (starter) to £65,000 (experienced) and mentions Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) qualifications as a route to progress (National Careers Service). List CIM qualifications under certifications and see the UK CV format.

Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)

Regional employers value GCC market experience, Arabic and English campaign work, and experience with regional platforms and retail partners. Many CVs include a photo, nationality, visa status and notice period. See the UAE resume format and Saudi Arabia CV format guides.

India

Show budgets and revenue in INR (lakhs or crores) and name the markets you covered, such as metro, tier-2 or pan-India. Experience with regional-language campaigns, marketplaces and quick-commerce partners is worth calling out. Employers commonly ask for current CTC and notice period. See the India CV format guide.

Common marketing manager resume mistakes

  • Reporting activity instead of results. "Ran 40 campaigns" says nothing; "campaigns sourced $14M pipeline" does.
  • Vanity metrics only. Impressions and followers matter less than revenue, pipeline, CAC and conversion.
  • No budget or team size. Scope is what separates a manager from a specialist; state both.
  • A heavy graphic design. Visual flair is welcome, but text inside images can't be read by an ATS.
  • Listing every tool you've touched. Keep the ones in the ad and the ones you can demo.
  • One resume for every type of marketing. A B2B demand-gen role and a consumer brand role need different top bullets.

Frequently asked questions

A short portfolio or case-study link helps, especially for brand and content roles. Pick two or three campaigns and show the brief, what you did and the result. Put the link in your header. Keep confidential figures out, or show them as percentages, and make sure the resume still makes sense without it.
Use percentages, ratios and relative results: "grew online revenue 59% in two years", "cut acquisition cost 18%", "marketing share of new pipeline from 28% to 45%". You can also give scope without revenue, such as budget size or audience size, if those are not confidential.
BLS says employers typically want a bachelor's degree in a business field such as marketing or a related field such as communications, and some prefer a master's. Experience counts heavily, though. If your degree is in another subject, lead with results and add certifications in analytics or marketing platforms.
Platform certifications such as Google Analytics, Google Ads or HubSpot show hands-on skill, and in the UK, CIM qualifications are widely recognized. They support your experience rather than replace it, so list them in a short Certifications section and keep the space for results.
Yes. A marketing cover letter is a small test of your positioning skills. Name one problem the company likely has, show a result where you solved something similar and close with a clear next step. See our marketing manager cover letter example or start in the cover letter builder.
A specialist resume proves hands-on channel skill: campaigns built, keywords ranked, ads optimized. A manager resume proves ownership: strategy, budget, team and business results across channels. If you're in between, show both, with the ownership bullets first. Compare the digital marketing specialist example.
