Free Novoresume Alternative: EZProCV vs Novoresume (2026)

By EZProCV Editorial Team · Updated

Novoresume is one of the few builders whose free plan already downloads a PDF, so this comparison is closer than most. The differences are in the limits: a one-page resume, one version, predefined layouts and no cover letter on the free Basic plan. If you're looking for a Novoresume alternative, this page sets out what each tool does, using what Novoresume publishes on its own pricing page, homepage and help center as of 18 October 2026.

EZProCV is our product, so we've kept to the facts: every Novoresume detail comes from a Novoresume page in the sources, and we're clear about where Novoresume is ahead. It has an AI assistant, free AI tools, an ATS checker and fair, non-renewing Premium passes. EZProCV has no AI or ATS checker. It offers a free resume and cover letter builder with ATS-friendly templates and a text-based PDF download.

Quick answer: Novoresume and EZProCV both let you download a PDF resume for free. Novoresume's free Basic plan is limited to a one-page resume, a single version and no cover letter, and its help center says Basic access is time-limited. EZProCV includes its cover letter builder at no cost. Novoresume is stronger on AI tools, a free ATS checker and Premium passes that don't auto-renew.

Pricing compared

EZProCV

Free. Build a resume and a cover letter, then download a text-based PDF at no cost, with no watermark and no trial to start.

Novoresume

Basic: free. One version, a one-page resume, predefined layouts and PDF download, but no cover letter. Novoresume's help center says Basic access lasts for a limited free period after you sign up or log back in, after which downloading needs Premium. Premium (USD): $21.99 for a month, $39.99 for a quarter or $149.99 for a year. The pricing page says you pay once, there is no automatic renewal, and you can ask for a refund in the first 14 days. The homepage FAQ also describes a recurring Pro Subscription option, so check what you choose at checkout.

Where Novoresume is stronger

  • Premium passes that don't renew. Novoresume's pricing page says Premium is a one-time payment with no automatic renewal, and its help center says your account simply returns to Basic when the period ends. That's a fair model for a short job search.
  • AI help. Novoresume's homepage says its assistant runs on Claude, turning duty lists into achievements and suggesting keywords. Its free AI tools include a resume rewriter, cover letter generator and bio generator, with no signup required. EZProCV has no AI writing.
  • A free ATS checker. You can upload a PDF or DOCX resume to Novoresume's ATS checker, and the editor shows an ATS score as you work. EZProCV has no ATS checker.
  • Design control on Premium. Premium adds custom layouts, 12 fonts, 74 color themes, photo styles and longer resumes.

Where EZProCV is stronger

  • Cover letters at no cost. EZProCV's cover letter builder is part of the free product. On Novoresume, the cover letter is a Premium feature.
  • Free without a time limit. EZProCV is free to build and download. Novoresume's help center says Basic access is available for a limited free period, after which downloading requires Premium.
  • Gulf-ready fields. Optional photo, nationality, visa status and notice period fields help with applications in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the rest of the Gulf.
  • A share link. Send your resume or cover letter as a link when an attachment isn't needed.

Who should choose Novoresume, and who should choose EZProCV?

Novoresume is the better fit if you

  • want AI to help turn duties into achievements, or to rewrite your resume for a specific job
  • want an ATS score before you apply
  • fit comfortably on one page and don't need a cover letter, or are happy to buy a Premium pass
  • prefer paying once for a set period instead of a subscription

EZProCV is the better fit if you

  • need a cover letter as well as a resume and don't want to pay for it
  • want to keep building and downloading without a time-limited free period
  • are applying in the Gulf and need nationality, visa status and notice period on the page
  • want to send your resume as a link

If you use Novoresume's AI tools, check every line against your real experience. Novoresume itself makes this point on its homepage.

How to switch from Novoresume to EZProCV

  1. Download your resume from Novoresume. On Basic, the download works once you swap any Premium features (marked with a star) for Basic ones, according to Novoresume's help center. Download a PDF while your Basic access is active.
  2. Import it into EZProCV. EZProCV imports PDF and DOCX files, so upload the PDF and review each section.
  3. Choose a template. Pick one of the ATS-friendly templates, then adjust fonts, colors and spacing with the live preview.
  4. Write or move your cover letter. Use the cover letter builder and match its fonts and colors to your resume.
  5. No cancellation needed for Premium passes. Novoresume's help center says Premium doesn't auto-renew and returns to Basic when it ends. If you chose a recurring Pro Subscription, cancel it in your account.

After importing, read every line. Check dates, bullet points and skill ratings, which may come through as plain text.

Templates, page length and ATS

An applicant tracking system (ATS) is the software employers use to receive and search applications. It reads text, so what matters most is a file with a real text layer, standard headings and a simple reading order.

Both tools produce text-based PDFs. Novoresume describes its export as a PDF with a real text layer that parses in common ATS software, and EZProCV's templates are ATS-friendly with a text-based PDF download.

The bigger practical difference is length. Novoresume's free plan is limited to one page, which suits students and early-career applicants. If you have several roles to show, or you're writing a longer CV for the UK, Europe or the Gulf, check what fits before you commit. Our guide to making a resume ATS-friendly explains how to test your file.

Verdict

Novoresume is a good builder with a fair pricing model: a free PDF on a one-page resume, AI tools built on Claude, a free ATS checker and Premium passes that don't auto-renew. If you want AI help and an ATS score, it's the stronger choice. If you need a free cover letter, a share link or Gulf fields such as nationality and visa status, EZProCV is the more practical Novoresume alternative, free to build and download with a text-based PDF.
