Free Resume Genius Alternative: EZProCV vs Resume Genius (2026)

The trial is clearly priced on Resume Genius's pricing page, but it's easy to skim past the renewal line. Here is what the published terms mean in practice:

If you…	You pay (as listed on Oct 18, 2026)
Use free access only	$0, but your resume downloads as TXT
Start the 14-day trial and cancel in time	$2.95
Keep the trial past 14 days	$23.95 every four weeks, until you cancel
Choose the annual plan	$95.40 up front, renewing every 12 months

Billing every four weeks means 13 charges a year, not 12. If you only need one resume for one job search, set a reminder before day 14, or use the refund window, which Resume Genius lists as 14 days.

None of this is hidden, and paying can make sense if you'll use the AI tools, the checker and Word exports. It's simply worth deciding before you build, not at the download screen.

Resume Genius is the better fit if you

• want AI to draft your summary and suggest skills and bullet points
• want a score and feedback on your resume before applying
• need a Word file as well as a PDF
• are job hunting in the US and want its job board and resume review

EZProCV is the better fit if you

• want a free PDF without a trial or subscription
• already know what you want to say and need a clean, ATS-friendly layout
• are applying in the Gulf and need nationality, visa status or notice period (see our UAE resume format guide)
• want a matching cover letter and a shareable link at no cost

1. If you're on a paid plan, download your resume as a PDF or Word file. On free access, download the TXT version or copy your text.
2. In EZProCV, import the PDF or DOCX. If you only have TXT, paste each section into the matching fields.
3. Pick one of the resume templates and check dates, job titles and bullet points line by line.
4. Add any regional fields you need, then download a text-based PDF.
5. If you started a trial you no longer need, cancel it through your Resume Genius account, email or phone, as its pricing page describes.

To check your new PDF reads cleanly, open it, select all the text and paste it into a plain text editor. If the sections appear in a sensible order, an applicant tracking system (ATS) can usually read it. Columbia University's career center also recommends standard section headings and simple formatting. Our guide to making a resume ATS-friendly covers the rest.
