Customer Service Representative Resume Example (2026): Sample and Skills

By EZProCV Editorial Team · Updated

This customer service representative resume example is for agents in contact centers, retail support, banks, utilities, telecoms, travel and e-commerce help desks. Employers hire CSRs on two things: can you handle volume, and do customers leave happier than they arrived? The best resumes answer both with the metrics you already see on your dashboard every day.

Below you get a complete sample resume in plain text, summaries for entry-level, mid-level and senior candidates, weak-versus-strong bullet rewrites, skills and ATS keywords, and notes for the US, UK, Gulf and Indian markets. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics describes customer service representatives as answering questions, explaining products, taking orders, processing payments, handling returns and complaints, and logging every contact.

Quick answer: A strong customer service representative resume proves you solve problems quickly and keep customers. Open with a short summary naming your channels (phone, chat, email), volume and best metrics, then list experience with bullets that quantify CSAT, first-contact resolution, handle time and retention. Finish with skills that mirror the ad: CRM and ticketing tools such as Zendesk or Salesforce, de-escalation, order processing and typing speed.

What should a customer service representative resume include?

Use a reverse-chronological, one-column layout. Most CSRs need only one page.

  • Header: name, city (add "remote" or "hybrid" if you are open to it), phone, email.
  • Summary: 2–3 lines with your channels, volume and best metrics.
  • Experience: 4–6 bullets for your current role, 3–4 for earlier ones.
  • Skills: 10–16 skills including the CRM and ticketing tools named in the ad.
  • Education and certifications: diploma or degree, customer service certificates.
  • Languages: list every language you can support customers in, with a level.

O*NET's customer service representative profile lists keeping records of customer interactions, checking that fixes were made and determining charges and payments among the top tasks, so show those along with handling calls.

Which customer service metrics should you put on your resume?

Contact centers measure everything. Choose the metrics your target employer cares about and explain each briefly the first time you use it.

Metric What it shows Example bullet
CSAT (customer satisfaction score) customers are happy with you 95% CSAT vs a 90% target
FCR (first-contact resolution) you fix problems the first time FCR up from 76% to 84%
AHT (average handle time) you work efficiently AHT 6:10 vs a 7:00 target
Quality score you follow process and compliance 97% average QA score
Retention or save rate you keep revenue saved 31% of cancellations
Volume you handle pressure 60+ contacts a day

Always compare your number to a target or team average when you can. "95% CSAT" is good; "95% CSAT against a 90% target" is better.

How to write a customer service representative resume summary

Write two or three sentences that a recruiter can scan in five seconds:

  1. Title, years of experience and industry.
  2. Channels and daily volume.
  3. Your two strongest metrics and one extra (mentoring, languages, tools).

Customer service representative with 5 years in e-commerce and telecom support. Handle 60+ phone, chat and email contacts a day with 95% CSAT and 84% first-contact resolution. Zendesk power user and bilingual English and Tagalog.

New to customer service? Retail, hospitality and front-desk jobs count. Lead with customers served per shift, complaints resolved and any sales or feedback results.

How do you tailor a CSR resume to the job ad?

Customer service ads differ a lot by industry. Before you apply:

  1. Note the channels (voice, chat, email, social) and lead with the ones they emphasize.
  2. Copy the exact tool names they list ("Salesforce Service Cloud", "Zendesk") into your skills if you have used them.
  3. Match their language: "client", "member", "guest" or "customer".
  4. Bring forward results that fit their goals: retention for subscriptions, sales for retail, compliance for banking and insurance.
  5. Mention schedule flexibility (nights, weekends, shifts) if the ad asks for it.

The National Careers Service's customer service assistant profile also lists managing renewals, tracking orders and arranging returns, which are common duties to name in UK applications.

How a customer service representative resume changes by country

US & Canada

Use a one-page resume with no photo or date of birth. Many US and Canadian CSR roles are remote or hybrid, so state your time zone and home-office setup if relevant. Bilingual English/Spanish (US) or English/French (Canada) is a major advantage. See the USA resume format and Canada resume format guides.

UK & Ireland

The title is often customer service advisor or assistant, and the document is a CV of one to two pages. Mention complaint handling standards, any NVQ in customer service and regulated-sector experience such as FCA rules in finance. Leave out photo and date of birth. See the UK CV format guide.

Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)

Gulf contact centers for airlines, banks, telecoms and government services often want Arabic and English, and sometimes Hindi, Urdu or Tagalog. Include nationality, visa status, notice period and languages; a photo is common but optional. EZProCV has optional fields for these details. See the UAE resume format and Saudi Arabia CV format guides.

India

Many Indian CSR roles are in BPO and international voice or non-voice processes. State whether you have worked voice or non-voice, the markets you supported (US, UK, Australia), shift flexibility and your notice period. Keep the CV to one or two pages. See the India CV format guide.

Common customer service representative resume mistakes

  • Writing "provided excellent customer service" with no metric to prove it.
  • Using contact-center abbreviations such as AHT or FCR without explaining them once.
  • Leaving out the channels you support; phone-only and chat-only roles need different strengths.
  • Forgetting languages, which can be the deciding factor for many support roles.
  • Listing ten CRMs you saw once instead of the two or three you use daily.
  • Ignoring remote-work details such as time zone and equipment when applying for remote jobs.

Frequently asked questions

BLS lists communication, customer-service, interpersonal, listening, patience and problem-solving skills as important qualities for CSRs. Combine those with hard skills such as complaint resolution, order and billing processing, CRM and ticketing tools (Zendesk, Salesforce), typing speed and any languages you can support customers in.
Lead with any role where you dealt with the public: retail, food service, hospitality, reception or volunteering. Quantify customers served, complaints resolved and sales made. Add a skills section with typing speed, computer tools and languages, and use your summary to name customer service as your target role.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a median annual wage of $44,770 for customer service representatives in May 2025. In the UK, the National Careers Service gives a typical customer service assistant range of £20,000 to £30,000. Pay is usually higher in finance, insurance and technical support than in general retail.
BLS projects employment of customer service representatives to decline 5% from 2025 to 2035, but still expects about 289,500 openings a year as people leave the job. Specialized support, technical help desks and multilingual roles tend to hold up better, so building those skills strengthens your resume.
List metrics that are at or above target. If your numbers were average, focus on other strengths: quality scores, compliance record, mentoring, product knowledge or a process you improved. Never inflate figures; recruiters for contact centers often ask about your stats in interviews and may check with references.
One page is right for most CSRs, including those with several years of experience. Go to two pages only if you have moved into team lead, quality or training roles and need the space to show that progression.
