Account Manager Resume Example (2026): Sample, Summary and Skills

By EZProCV Editorial Team · Updated

This account manager resume example is for people who own client relationships after the first sale: in SaaS, agencies, logistics, media, manufacturing and financial services. Hiring managers want to see the size of the portfolio you manage, how much of it you keep, and how much you grow it. Everything else on the page should support those three numbers.

Below is a complete sample resume in plain text, summaries for three career levels, weak-versus-strong bullet rewrites, skills and ATS keywords, and notes for the US and Canada, the UK, the Gulf and India. O*NET's profile for sales representatives of services captures the core of the job: supporting clients after contract signing, answering questions on services and pricing, developing proposals and contacting customers about how services meet their needs.

Quick answer: A strong account manager resume proves you keep clients and grow them. Open with a summary naming your industry, the size of your book of business and your retention and expansion results. Then use bullets that quantify net revenue retention, renewals, upsells, quota attainment and client satisfaction. Finish with skills that mirror the ad: account planning, QBRs, negotiation, CRM tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot, and forecasting.

What should an account manager resume include?

An account manager resume should read like a portfolio report: what you own, what you kept and what you grew.

  • Header: name, city, phone, email, LinkedIn.
  • Headline: your target title plus industry, e.g. "Account Manager | Agency" or "Key Account Manager | FMCG".
  • Summary: 3–4 lines with portfolio size, retention and growth.
  • Experience: reverse-chronological, 4–6 bullets per recent role.
  • Skills: 10–16 terms, including your CRM.
  • Education and certifications: degree, sales methodology training, CRM certifications.

O*NET lists "Account Representative" as a sample title for wholesale and manufacturing sales representatives, whose top tasks include recommending products, quoting prices and terms, and resolving problems after the sale. Those after-sale duties are the heart of account management.

Which numbers belong on an account manager resume?

Use the metrics your employer reports on. Explain each one briefly the first time.

Metric What it means Example
Book of business total value of accounts you own CA$6.8M across 42 accounts
Gross retention revenue kept, before growth 96% of contract value renewed
Net revenue retention (NRR) revenue kept plus expansion 114% NRR vs a 105% target
Expansion or upsell new revenue from existing clients CA$1.1M, 128% of quota
Client satisfaction NPS or CSAT NPS up from 31 to 52
Contract terms length, value, price increases average term from 14 to 30 months

If your employer doesn't use NRR, use growth in client spend, number of renewals or accounts saved. Always pair a number with a target or a before-and-after.

How to write an account manager resume summary

Lead with numbers, not adjectives.

  1. Title, years of experience and industry.
  2. Portfolio size: number of accounts and total value.
  3. Retention and growth results.
  4. A differentiator: executive relationships, a methodology, languages or a sector specialty.

Account manager with 7 years in B2B SaaS. Own a CA$6.8M book of 42 accounts with 114% net revenue retention and 96% gross retention. Known for executive-level QBRs and structured account plans.

Avoid "relationship-focused professional with a passion for client success". Every account manager says that; your retention figure proves it.

Account manager vs sales representative vs customer success: how do the resumes differ?

The roles overlap, so position yourself for the one you are applying to:

  • Sales representative: finds and closes new clients. Resume stresses prospecting, pipeline, new revenue and quota. See the sales representative resume example.
  • Account manager: keeps and grows existing clients. Resume stresses retention, renewals, upsells and relationships.
  • Customer success manager: drives product adoption and outcomes, often without a revenue quota. Resume stresses onboarding, usage, health scores and churn prevention.

If you have done all three, lead with the one that matches the ad, and use your summary to connect the others.

How do you format and build an account manager resume?

Use one column, standard headings and two pages at most. A clean layout matters because many employers screen sales and account roles through an applicant tracking system (ATS), software that stores and searches applications by keyword.

In EZProCV you can pick an ATS-friendly template, edit with a live preview and download a text-based PDF free. Import an existing PDF or DOCX resume if you have one. Then add a matching letter using the account manager cover letter example.

How a account manager resume changes by country

US & Canada

Call it a resume, keep it to 1–2 pages and leave out photo, age and marital status. Show figures in the currency you were measured in (US$ or CA$). In Canada, French is a real advantage for national accounts and Quebec clients. See the Canada resume format and USA resume format guides.

UK & Ireland

Call it a CV, two pages, no photo or date of birth. "Key account manager" is a common UK title, especially in FMCG, retail and manufacturing. Show figures in pounds or euros and mention major retail or distributor accounts by sector rather than by confidential name. See the UK CV format guide.

Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)

Gulf account roles often cover several GCC markets, so name the countries you managed and any government or semi-government clients. Include nationality, visa status, notice period, languages and driving license; a photo is common but optional. EZProCV has optional fields for these. See the UAE resume format and Saudi Arabia CV format guides.

India

Indian account manager roles in IT services, SaaS and advertising often expect revenue figures in lakh or crore, or in US dollars for global clients; be consistent. Add notice period, current city and total experience at the top. See the India CV format guide.

Common account manager resume mistakes

  • Describing relationships ("built strong client rapport") without retention or growth numbers.
  • Leaving out the size of your book of business, which is the first thing recruiters look for.
  • Naming confidential clients or contract values your employer would not want public.
  • Mixing up account management and new-business results so the reader can't tell which you did.
  • Listing a CRM without showing how you used it, such as forecasting or account plans.
  • Writing three pages; two pages are enough even for senior account directors.

Frequently asked questions

Combine commercial skills (account planning, renewals, upselling, negotiation, forecasting) with relationship skills (listening, stakeholder management, problem-solving) and tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot or Gainsight. O*NET lists negotiation, persuasion and service orientation among the top transferable skills for service sales roles, so show them through results.
BLS doesn't track account managers as a separate occupation. Related groups give a guide: the median annual wage for wholesale and manufacturing sales representatives was $76,460 in May 2025, and sales managers earned a median of $148,270. Actual pay depends on industry, portfolio size and commission structure.
Yes. Customer service, account coordination, project management and customer success roles all build relevant skills. On your resume, highlight client communication, problem-solving, renewals or upsells you supported, and any revenue you influenced. A short sales methodology course or CRM certification can help bridge the gap.
Yes, if you have an expansion or renewal quota. Write it as a percentage of target with the period, for example "128% of expansion quota in 2025". If you had no quota, show retention rate, client growth or satisfaction instead, so the reader still sees measurable results.
A key account manager looks after a small number of an employer's most valuable clients, often with more strategic planning, senior relationships and complex contracts. On a resume, show the value of the accounts, the length of the relationships and the strategic results, such as joint business plans or multi-year agreements.
One page works for coordinators and account managers with under about five years of experience. Senior account managers and directors usually need two pages to show portfolio size, results and leadership. Keep older roles brief so your most recent results get the space.
