Real Estate Agent Resume Example (2026): Sample, Summary, Skills and License Tips

By EZProCV Editorial Team · Updated

This real estate agent resume example is for licensed agents joining a new brokerage, new agents fresh out of prelicensing, and agents moving into leasing, commercial or new-development sales. It includes a complete sample resume, three summaries by level, before-and-after bullets, skills, keywords and the license rules that change by market.

Brokers and developers read a real estate resume for production. They want your market, your license, how many deals you closed and how you find clients. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that every state requires real estate brokers and agents to be licensed, typically after state-approved prelicensing courses and an exam, and lists duties such as finding clients, advising on prices and mortgages, comparing properties, holding open houses, presenting offers and preparing contracts (BLS).

BLS reports a median pay of $52,830 for real estate sales agents in May 2025 and projects 2% employment growth from 2025 to 2035, slower than average. Because pay is usually commission-based, numbers on your resume carry more weight than titles.

Quick answer: A strong real estate agent resume leads with your license (state, number status, brokerage) and a short summary of your market and results. Then list roles with numbers: transactions closed, sales volume, average days on market, list-to-sale price ratio, leads converted and client ratings. Add skills such as CMA pricing, negotiation, CRM and MLS, plus your designations. Keep it to one page unless you are a team leader.

How do you write a real estate agent resume summary?

Lead with numbers, market and specialty. In three or four lines, cover:

  1. License status and years in real estate
  2. Market: city or neighborhoods, residential, luxury, commercial, leasing or off-plan
  3. Production: transactions and sales volume in a stated period
  4. How you win business: referrals, open houses, online leads, developer relationships

Licensed agent with 6 years in San Diego residential sales, closing 38 transactions and $31.4M in volume in the past 12 months, with listings selling at 101.4% of list price.

Always give a time frame for your numbers ("past 12 months", "2026 year to date") so a broker can compare you fairly.

Which numbers should a real estate agent put on a resume?

Production metrics are what make a real estate resume believable:

Metric Example
Transactions closed 38 sides in the past 12 months
Sales volume $31.4M
Sale-to-list ratio 101.4% average
Days on market 18 days vs. local average
Lead conversion 12% of open-house sign-ins to consultations
Referral share 45% of business from past clients
Client rating 4.9 out of 5 across 70+ reviews
Ranking Top 10% of 85 agents

Use figures you can back up with MLS or brokerage reports. Brokers often check, and an inflated number can end an interview.

How do you list a real estate license on a resume?

Put it in the headline ("Licensed Real Estate Agent") and in a Licenses section: license type, issuing state or authority, and whether it is active. BLS notes typical licensing requirements of being at least 18, having a high school diploma or equivalent, completing state-approved prelicensing courses and passing an exam, with background checks in some states.

  • New agents: write "State real estate exam passed, license issued [month year]" or "License pending" if you are waiting on it.
  • Moving states: list your current license and say whether you are pursuing reciprocity.
  • Designations: add professional designations and association membership, but only those you hold.

Outside the US, the license changes completely; see the regional notes below.

What skills and tools do real estate agents need on a resume?

BLS lists business, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving and self-motivation skills as important qualities for agents. O*NET adds the technology agents use every day, including CRM software, MLS databases, document management and e-signature tools (O*NET).

Group your skills section into three short lines: Sales (negotiation, CMA, listing presentations), Transactions (contracts, disclosures, escrow coordination) and Tools (MLS, CRM, DocuSign, Canva). Mention languages if you serve clients in them; they are a real competitive advantage in many markets.

How should a new real estate agent with no sales history write a resume?

Lead with your license and transferable results. Leasing, retail, hospitality, customer service and car sales all show you can build rapport and close. Quantify them: tours given, conversion rate, sales targets beaten, customer ratings.

Add a short line on your plan for building business, such as your sphere of influence, open houses or a niche you know well. Our sales representative resume example and sales associate resume example show strong sales bullets you can adapt.

How a real estate agent resume changes by country

US & Canada

Show your state license (or provincial registration in Canada, such as through RECO in Ontario or BCFSA in British Columbia), brokerage, association membership and production numbers. No photo, age or marital status. Commission-based roles often ask for a 12-month production summary.

UK & Ireland

Use "CV" and the local titles: estate agent, sales negotiator, lettings negotiator or valuer. There is no US-style license in England, but list Propertymark qualifications if you hold them. In Ireland, property services providers are licensed by the PSRA, so list your PSRA license. See the UK CV format guide.

Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)

In Dubai, agents work under a brokerage registered with the Dubai Land Department and need an individual broker card, which follows RERA-approved training and an exam. List your broker card status, off-plan and secondary-market experience, languages and nationalities you serve, and visa status. See the UAE resume format.

India

Under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, agents who facilitate sales of registered projects must register with the state RERA, so list your RERA agent registration. Name the micro-markets you cover, project launches you have sold and channel-partner relationships. See the India CV format guide.

Common real estate agent resume mistakes

  • Listing duties ("showed homes") instead of transactions, volume and conversion rates.
  • Giving numbers with no time period or market, so a broker can't compare them.
  • Leaving out license status or brokerage, which makes a broker wonder if you can practice.
  • Claiming team or brokerage totals as your own production. Say "team of 6 closed $45M; personally closed 22 sides".
  • Using a flashy, image-heavy design. Save photos of listings for a portfolio link.
  • Ignoring fair housing and compliance. A line on current training shows professionalism.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Sales volume and transactions closed are the first things most brokers look for. Give a time period, such as the past 12 months or a calendar year, and say whether the figure is personal production or a team total. Add sale-to-list ratio or days on market if they are strong.
Lead with your license or exam result, then highlight sales, leasing or customer service roles with numbers: tours, conversions, targets beaten and ratings. Add local market knowledge and languages. Our student resume example shows how to present limited experience well.
In the US, a real estate agent holds a state license, while REALTOR® is a trademark for members of the National Association of REALTORS®. Only use "Realtor" in your title if you are a member. Use "real estate agent" or "real estate salesperson" otherwise.
Not in the US, Canada or the UK, even though agents use headshots in marketing. Put a link to your agent profile or listings instead. In the Gulf, many brokerages expect a professional photo, and EZProCV's optional photo field covers that.
For brokerages, a short letter helps explain your niche, production and why you want to join their team. For developer sales roles, mention launches and inventory you have sold. EZProCV's cover letter builder is free.
One page for most agents. Team leaders and brokers with long track records can use two pages, with a short production table or key-deals list. Keep each bullet focused on results rather than routine tasks.
