Delivery Driver Resume Example (2026): Sample, Summary, Skills and Keywords

By EZProCV Editorial Team · Updated

This delivery driver resume example works for parcel and courier drivers, food and grocery delivery, route sales drivers and van drivers for retailers and distributors. It includes a full sample resume, summaries for new and experienced drivers, stronger bullet points and the keywords that logistics recruiters search for.

Delivery hiring is quick and practical. A dispatcher or recruiter wants to see that you hold the right license, keep a clean record, show up every shift and treat customers well. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says delivery drivers need a driver's license from their state and a clean driving record, and that the job includes loading cargo, following routes, talking with customers, reporting incidents and handling paperwork (BLS).

BLS reports a median pay of $44,860 for light truck drivers in May 2025 and projects 6% employment growth from 2025 to 2035. Below you will also find what changes when you apply in the UK, the Gulf or India, where license categories and documents differ.

Quick answer: A delivery driver resume should show three things fast: the right license and a clean driving record, reliable on-time delivery, and good customer service. Start with a two- to three-line summary, then list jobs with numbers such as stops per day, on-time rate, miles driven and accident-free years. Add skills like route planning, handheld scanners and safe lifting. One page is enough.

How do you write a delivery driver resume summary?

Two or three lines are enough. Cover:

  1. Years and type of delivery (parcel, food, furniture, grocery, wholesale)
  2. Volume: stops or deliveries per day
  3. Safety: clean record, accident-free years, safe miles
  4. One customer-service or reliability result

Delivery driver with 5 years of last-mile parcel delivery, handling 140–180 stops a day with a 99.2% on-time rate. Clean record, no at-fault accidents in 5 years.

If you are new, replace volume with reliability: attendance at a previous job, a valid license and willingness to work early starts or weekends.

How do you show a clean driving record and license on a resume?

Put your license in a Licenses and Certifications section near the top, with the class and state, and write "clean driving record" if it is true. Recruiters often run a motor vehicle record check, so be accurate.

  • US: Class D or C for standard vans; a commercial driver's license (CDL Class A or B) for larger trucks. Add a DOT medical card if you hold one.
  • UK: category B for vans up to 3,500 kg; category C1 for vehicles between 3,500 and 7,500 kg, according to GOV.UK.
  • Gulf: a valid local license (for example a UAE light vehicle license) and the vehicle type, such as motorcycle or light van.
  • India: a license with the right class and transport endorsement for commercial vehicles.

Never list a license class you don't hold, and update the resume if your record changes.

What achievements can a delivery driver list?

Most delivery resumes only list duties. Numbers make yours stronger:

What you did How to measure it
Delivered Stops or packages per day, deliveries completed
On time On-time percentage, route completion time
Safety Accident-free years, safe miles, safety awards
Customers Ratings, compliments, fewer complaints or redeliveries
Cash Weekly cash or COD handled with no shortages
Vehicle care Inspections completed, defects reported, fuel savings

Your app rating, daily scan reports or depot scorecards are good places to find these numbers.

Which skills matter most for delivery drivers?

BLS lists customer-service skills, hand-eye coordination, math skills for counting cash, patience in heavy traffic and visual ability (a vision test is required for a license) as important qualities for delivery drivers. Add the practical skills dispatchers rely on: route planning, handheld scanners, safe lifting and loading in stop order.

If you also handle stock or use a forklift at the depot, list it. Warehouse skills make you more flexible and can help when a company hires drivers who also load trucks. Retail delivery roles also value skills shown on our sales associate resume example.

How long should a delivery driver resume be?

One page. Use a simple, single-column layout with standard headings: Summary, Experience, Licenses and Certifications, Skills, Education. Many delivery jobs are applied for on a phone, so a short, clean PDF opens quickly and is easy for a recruiter to scan.

You can make one for free with an EZProCV template and download a text-based PDF. Read our ATS-friendly resume guide if you are applying through large logistics employers' online portals.

How a delivery driver resume changes by country

US & Canada

List license class and state or province, clean record and any CDL or DOT medical card. In Canada, list the provincial class (for example Class G in Ontario or Class 5 in British Columbia) and any air brake endorsement. Leave out photo, age and date of birth.

UK & Ireland

Use "CV" and state your license categories (B, C1, C) and points, as UK employers commonly ask. HGV drivers should list a Driver CPC and digital tachograph card. Check categories on GOV.UK and see the UK CV format guide.

Gulf (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar)

Gulf employers usually want nationality, visa status, a valid local driving license (or one you can convert), and often a photo. Show knowledge of the city road network and delivery apps, and say if you can ride a motorcycle for food delivery. See the UAE resume format and applying for jobs in Qatar from abroad.

India

State your license class, the transport (commercial) endorsement if you have it, and the vehicles you drive (two-wheeler, LMV, LCV). List the city areas you know well and the e-commerce or food platforms you have delivered for. Recruiters for Gulf driver jobs also check passport validity, so add it.

Common delivery driver resume mistakes

  • Not stating your license class or whether your driving record is clean.
  • Listing duties ("delivered packages") with no volume, on-time rate or safety numbers.
  • Leaving gaps between gig or seasonal jobs unexplained. List gig work as a real job with the platform name.
  • Forgetting physical requirements you meet, such as lifting up to 50 or 75 lb.
  • Using a long, design-heavy resume. One clean page is easier to read on a phone.
  • Exaggerating ratings or safety awards. Employers can check depot records.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Gig delivery is real work. List the platform as the employer, use a title like "Independent Delivery Courier", give dates and add numbers: deliveries completed, rating and hours a week. It shows driving experience, customer service and the ability to work independently.
Lead with your valid license and clean record, then show reliability from any job: retail, warehouse, restaurant or volunteering. Mention local area knowledge, comfort with GPS apps and lifting. Our cashier resume example shows how to present customer-facing work.
No. Write the license class and the state or country that issued it. Employers ask for the number and a copy during the formal hiring check, usually with your consent for a record check. Keeping it off the resume protects you from identity fraud.
Use a short summary instead: name the type of delivery you have done, your record and one result. For example: "Courier with 2 years of food delivery, 2,000+ orders at a 4.9 rating, clean license. Looking for a full-time route driver role."
Usually not for app-based or entry-level roles. For company driver jobs with benefits, a short note helps: mention your license, safety record and availability for early or weekend shifts. EZProCV's cover letter builder is free to use.
A CDL qualifies you for heavier trucks and often better-paid routes. Put the class (A or B), endorsements and medical card status in your certifications section and mention it in your summary if the job requires it.
